Srinagar: Police in Sopore on Monday carried out a Wild Bhang/ Cannabis destruction drive in Watergam and its adjoining areas.
According to a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters here, a police party from Police Station Dangiwacha headed by SHO PS Dangiwacha accompanied with I/C PP Watergam along with Naib Tehsildar Watergam and officers/officials from Excise department destroyed Wild Bhung/ Cannabis spread on about 10 Kanals of land in Watergam area of Sopore and its adjoining areas. General public of the area have appreciated the action of Police and have urged to continue such drive in nearby areas also.
The police in the above referred statement appealed people to come forward with any information regarding cultivation of contrabands in their neighbourhood and reiterated that people found indulging in drug peddling & cultivation of contraband substances shall be dealt as per law.
