Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Police has cautioned the media fraternity not to fall prey to uploading old sensational videos or pictures of cricket match of Asia Cup being played at Dubai International Cricket Stadium between the two arch rival teams of India and Pakistan on Sunday.
“It is requested that the media fraternity may not fall prey to such sensationalism and may please verify all such sensitive news/videos/pics that have potential of creating law and order situations from the authorities first”, an advisory issued by the police said.
In order to curb the menace of fake news that can lead to Law & order, the Social Media cell of Srinagar Police will be monitoring all social media platforms, it said.
Sporting events are a test of dedication, sportsmanship and work ethics of the participating teams. And such events are enjoyed by millions across the world.
Due to the attention such events garner, it has been noticed that some journalists have in the past, without verifying from authorities, posted old sensational videos/pictures during & after sporting events between India & its neighbour.
The National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar administration has also directed students not to create any kind of indiscipline in the institute or hostel in view of the ongoing Asia Cup 2022 tournament in Dubai wherein India and Pakistan cricket teams will face each other on Sunday.
A notice issued by Dean Students Welfare reads, students are hereby directed to take sports as a game and do not create any kind of indiscipline in the Institute/hostel.
The students were directed to remain in their alloted rooms and not allow other students to enter their rooms.
“If there is a group of students watching the match in a particular room, then the students to whom that particular room is alloted will be debarred from the institute hostel accommodation and a fine of at least Rs. 5000/- will be imposed on all the students involved,” reads the notice.
The notice further reads, “the students are further directed to avoid posting any material related to the match on the social media platforms.”
