2 drug peddlers arrested under PSA in Awantipora: Police

Srinagar : Continuing Police on Saturday said that it has arrested two drug peddlers from Awantipora and also slapped PSA on them after obtained formal detention orders from the competent authority and further more a bung destruction drive was launched in several areas.
In a statement issued from the Zonal Police Headquarters here, Police said that in Awantipora police arrested two drug peddlers identified and identified them as Tawseef Ahmad Masoodi S/O Nazim-ud-Din Masoodi R/O Bagander Pampore and Mehran Ahmad Malik S/O Farooq Ahmad Malik R/O Drangabal Pampore. Police in the above referred statement also said that both the accused persons were promoting drug abuse by supplying drugs to local youth of PD Awantipora especially in Pampore area, Stating therein further that subsequently, the cases were duly processed and after obtaining sanctions from the competent authority, the arrested drug peddlers were detained under Public Safety Act.
Stating that huge quantity of wild bung was also destroyed by police in various areas of PD Awantipora, Police in the concluding para of the above referred statement said that after the arrests, people of the concerned areas appreciated the role of Police against drug peddlers, Stating therein further that consistent actions against drug peddlers are taken to keep society free from the scourge of drug menace.”
