Baramulla : Security forces on Thursday foiled an infiltration bid near the Line of Control in Kamalkote area Uri sector in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district by killing three militants.
An official said that three militants have been killed along the LoC in Uri sector, while trying to infiltrate into this side. He said that the bodies of all three militants have been recovered along with arms and ammunition.
Meanwhile, Kashmir zone police on its official Twitter handle also confirmed the killing of three militants during an infiltration bid in Uri sector.
“Army and Baramulla Police neutralised 03 infiltrators (FTs) near Madiyan Nanak post in Kamalkote sector of Uri. More details to be followed,” police tweeted.
Defence spokesman in Srinagar said that the army foiled an infiltration attempt by in forward areas of Uri Sector by killing of three militants and recovery of large quantity of war like stores.
“The operation was launched based on specific intelligence from Army intelligence agencies. Consequently, on 24th Aug afternoon multiple ambushes were laid to trap the infiltrators. Intensive electronic surveillance of the suspected area led to detection of the attempt at 7: am on 25 August,” the defence spokesman said. “Militants were hoping to use the cover of thick undergrowth, foliage and continuous rain and low clouds to infiltrate. The contact with militants was established at about 08.45 AM on 25 Aug 22 in the forward areas Indian side of the LoC, leading to heavy exchange of fire in which the militants were killed. Detailed search of the area was concluded at 2 PM.”
He said that the search of the area yielded bodies of three militants, two AK rifles, one Chinese M-16 rifle along with other war like stores. “Indian Army’s successful operation has not only led to elimination of three Pakistani militants, but also has resulted in thwarting Pakistan’s nefarious design and intent to disrupt peace, prosperity and normalcy in J&K. Use of electronic surveillance and intelligence-based operations continue to be mainstay of IA ops against Pakistan sponsored militancy in J&K,” he said.
Pertinently, Thursday’s infiltration was third in the past 60 hours in J&K as earlier, two back to back infiltration bids were foiled by the army in Nowshehra sector of Rajouri by killing two militants, capturing one alive while one managed to flee in an injured condition
