DDC Vice Chairman reviews dev works in Dooru

Anantnag : The Vice Chairman District Development Council (DDC) Anantnag on Thursday held a detailed review of the developmental works being undertaken in Sub Division Dooru.

DDC members from  Vessu Qazigund, Hiller Shahabad and Shahbad Bala as well as concerned BDCs were present on the occasion.

SDM Dooru presented a brief overview of various developmental works being undertaken in the district. He elaborated on the works completed in the previous fiscal and the expenditure made as well the works being tendered in the present fiscal.

He informed the chair that most of the estimations have been completed and tendering of works is underway and assured him that works will be completed within the stipulated timeline.

The DDC members discussed projects of importance and highlighted areas for improvement. The BDC members put forth their observations and directed the officers to ensure that works are completed within a given timeframe. They said that works plans have been vetted by Gram Sabhas and implementation of the development works must be carried out as per plan.

Sarpanches of the respective halqas highlighted their concerns and sought the intervention of the Administration in resolving the issues.

Speaking on the occasion, the Vice chairman said that holding of Gram sabhas has been instrumental in projecting genuine public demands. He further said that in future such meetings will be held for better development of the sub division.

He exhorted the PRI members and officials to work in close coordination for welfare of the people and ensure that public money is spent on community welfare works as per the plans prepared by the Gram Sabhas.

He laid emphasis on social audit of works and appealed to the sarpanches to ensure that quality standards are strictly adhered to. He further said that works should be prioritized and accordingly executed.

The DDC Vice Chairman directed the officials to ensure that they are accessible to the public during office hours so that the public can put up their grievances. He stressed on timely resolution of grievances.

The meeting was attended by the SDM, concerned Tehsildars, BDOs, representatives from engineering wings among others.
