Mega Block Diwas held at Panchayat at Block Khag

ADDC calls for robust development of area

Budgam : A mega Block Diwas was Wednesday held at Panchayat Halqa Sugen in Block Khag of Budgam district.

The Block Diwas was chaired by the Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) Budgam, Dr Akramullah Tak.

During the programme, various public representatives and respected from village Sitharan, Sugen, Drung, Shonglipora, Lassipora, Kokerbagh and  other adjoining villages raised their issues and demands with the ADDC for prompt redressal.

DDC Member Khag, Moulvi Nisar Ahmad, who was also present on the occasion stressed on approval and work execution of Zampathri Water Supply Scheme to supply potable water to the whole area. He also demanded  Girls Higher Secondary School facility be created in the area for women students, besides development of park, F&EM service station, Bank branch and other facilities.

The demands raised by locals included upgradation of High School Higher Secondary level, macadamization and development of roads and links in the area, development of Kusturwan Park, accommodation for health centre, animal husbandry dispensary and Agriculture, Horticulture centres, new water pipelines, work execution on Tosamaidan project, release of SBM payment, fencing of local shrine, development of playground, awareness generation about self employment schemes, BPL ration cards to eligible beneficiaries, additional panchayat halqa for Sugen, J&K Bank branch, improvement in health and education sectors and work on irrigation related projects.

On the occasion, the Coordination Committee Tosamaidan submitted a list of demands with the ADDC and demanded early resolution of their genuine issues.

The ADDC emphasized on robust development of the area. He also stressed on the development of all roads including links and improvement in all other sectors including education and health facilities in the area.

He stressed for speedy development of soakage and composite pits by all households.

He instructed concerned officers to organise a joint awareness camp by Sheep and Animal Husbandry, Agriculture, Horticulture and other allied departments for awareness generation of their departmental schemes and initiatives among locals.

The ADDC emphasised on development of pony track in Tosamaidan area for tourism promotion. He said special focus is being given to the development of Tosamaidan as a vast tourist spot.

He also directed the concerned to identify land and demarcate proposed site for school building construction.

During the programme, concerned district officers raised awareness about their public welfare schemes and initiatives.

Among others, SDM Beerwah, CEO, Tehsildar, Ex. Engineers of various engineering wings, District Officers of Agriculture, Horticulture, Animal and Sheep Husbandry, BDO and other concerned were present on the occasion.
