Anantnag : The Director Sericulture Development Department (SDD) J&K, Manzoor Ahmad Qadri visited Cocoon auction market at Sarnal Anantnag on Wednesday to facilitate the sale of Cocoon for sericulture farmers from different parts of South Kashmir.
A good number of silkworm farmers are participating in the auction market to sell their produce to the buyers, who are found quite enthusiastic and satisfactory regarding the quality of silk and arrangements put in place by the District Sericulture Officer, Anantnag.
The Director while interacting with both the farmers and the buyers from different parts of J&K and country, heard the suggestions from both the sides and assured all possible measures for the development of the Sericulture and the welfare of the farmers.
He further said that the silk industry is an old industry of J&K which provides employment to a large number of people, adding that the auction market has been organized to provide an opportunity to the farmers to sell their produce at satisfactory rates. He asked both the sellers and buyers to keep a positive attitude while dealing with each other.
The Director was accompanied by Additional Director SDD Kashmir, Shabir Ahmad Bhat; PEO SDD Kashmir, M Abdullah Bhat; District Sericulture Officer Anantnag, Fayaz Ahmad Bhat and Section Officer SDD Anantnag, Peerzada Aijaz Ahmad Shah.
