Srinagar: Police on Tuesday said that it has arrested two drug peddlers in the district and also recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued on Thursday Police said that a Police party of Police Station Vilgam at a checkpoint established at Dahama crossing intercepted two persons and upon checking recovered 800grams of charas like substance from their possession after which they were identified as Mohd Gulzar Mir S/O Gh Mohi Ud Din Mir R/O Amargad and Basit Ahmad Rather S/OAbdul Gaffer Rather R/O Amargad Sherkote A/P Aloosa Kupwara, Stating therein further that the above named accused have been arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody.
Stating that Police registered an FIR No. 95/2022 under relevant sections of law at Police Station Vilgam and initiated the further process of investigation in the case, Police in the concluding para of the above referred statement appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood and warned that people found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.
