Illegal extraction, transportation of minerals: 5 accused arrested, 5 vehicles seized, Says Police

Amid dry, hot and humid weather, hundreds of people including men, women and children mostly bare foot visited the revered suffi Saint Shrine Sheikh Noor-Ud-Wali popularly known as Nund Resh at Charar-e- Sharief in Budgam district on Sunday for prayers to seek rainfall to end the drought season in Kashmir valley. Srinagar : Police on Monday said that it has arrested five persons on charges of involvement in illegal extraction and transportation of minieral in Charangam Beerwah area of Budgam district and also seized five vehicles involved in the commission of crime.

Stating that during patrolling at Charangam Beerwah, police parties of PS Chadoora and PS Beerwah intercepted fice  vehicles loaded with illegally extracted sand/soil, Police in  a statement issued on Monday said that the accused drivers identified as Manzoor Ahmed Joo son of Mohammad Qasim Joo resident of Khomeni Budgam, Altaf Hussain Molvi son of Ali Mohammad Molvi, Bashir Ahmed Malla son of Ghulam Haider Malla, both residents of Pallar Budgam, Zahoor Ahmed Wani son of Abdul Ahad Wani and Ajaz Ahmed Bhat son of Ghulam Mohammad, both residents of Gowharpora Chadoora were arrested, Stating therein further that Vehicles (Tippers) bearing registration numbers JK01M-5014, JK01J-1820, JK01L-4456, JK04G-9677, JK02CD-3297 used in the commission of crime have also been seized.

Police in it’s above referred statement also said that cases under relevant sections of law stands registered at respective police stations and further investigation set into motion. Police in the concluding para of it’s statement warned that people found indulging in illegal mining activities shall be dealt as per law and appealed people to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with their concerned police units.
