Srinagar: Police on Monday said that it has arrested a drug peddler in Handwara and also recovered contraband substance from his possession.
In a statement issued on Monday Police said that a police party from Police Post Langate during Naka checking near Kohru Bridge intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number JK05B-1529 driven by one person identified as Suhail Bashir Zargar son of Bashir Ahmad Zargar resident of Bahrampora Dangiwacha and during search recovered around five grams of Brown Sugar like substance was recovered from his possession, Stating therein further that the vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized.
Police in it’s above referred statement also said that a case vide FIR No. 234/2022 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Handwara and investigation was initiated. In the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement police appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood but warned that peoplr found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law, Stating further that consistent actions against drug peddlers are taken to keep society free from the scourge of drug menace.
