2 drug peddlers arrested in Budgam, Contraband substances recovered: Police

Amid dry, hot and humid weather, hundreds of people including men, women and children mostly bare foot visited the revered suffi Saint Shrine Sheikh Noor-Ud-Wali popularly known as Nund Resh at Charar-e- Sharief in Budgam district on Sunday for prayers to seek rainfall to end the drought season in Kashmir valley. Budgam : Police on Saturday said that it has arrested two drug peddlers in Budgam and also recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued on Saturday police said that a police party of Police Post Humhama at a checkpoint established at Sheikhpora intercepted two suspicious persons and during searches recover 183 capsules of Spascore-Von, 1.5grams of Heroin like substance, cash amount of Rs 29,050/ believed to be the proceeds of narcotic crime and four blank cheques of J&K Bank from their possession. Stating that the said accused have been identified as Tanveer Ahmad Ganie S/O Ghulam Nabi Ganie R/O Ompora Budgam and Lateef Ahmad Paul S/O Abdul Aziz Paul R/O Sheikhpora Budgam, Police in it’s statement further said that the above named accused have been arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody, Stating therein further that after nabbing the culprits, the police accordingly, registered a case vide FIR No. 285/2022 under relevant sections of law at Police Station Budgam and further investigation has been taken up.

In the concluding para of it’s above referred statement Police appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood but warned that people found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.
