Public grievances at public facility centres

Though public grievance portals are very much working for resolving public grievances pending disposal for long time but public grievances at public facility centres like hospitals, diagnostic laboratories, schools, colleges and universities though need to be resolved on the spot are not resolved at very much on the spot due to absence of spot grievance redressal mechanism. A patient waiting at the door of a doctor at the outpatients department (OPD) of a hospital in a city, town or village for hours together does not find any way for immediate relief on the spot and the casualty of a bad treatment at a hospital is not only one patient but thousands of patient across Jammu & Kashmir and more so in rural areas than urban areas. No different inhuman treatment in meted out to a parent seeking admission for his child at a private school. While the delay in attending a patient at a hospital becomes even the cause of his/her death very much at the hospital, a similar delay in attending the request of a parent for admission of his/her child at a private school spoils the precious one or even more than two academic years of hundreds of school children . Amid chaos and confusion the hopes for spot grievance redressal system are reducing day after day, month after month and year after year as the issue does attract the attention of the people at the helm. While such grievances are taken very trivially by the authorities, the demands for taking such public complaints are growing day after day and people expect the government to put in place a system of spot grievance redressal mechanism very much on the spot at the public facility centres particularly hospitals and educational institutions bet it a school, a college or a university.

Though people in an attempt to enforce a self regulating grievance redressal process put their complaints about health, education, sanitation and other such issues on social media platforms with the expectation that concerned authorities will take note of such grievances and resolve them on the spot but such complaints are not also attended even for the purposes of simple investigation. A citizen’s grievance  about health or education shows his/her concern about accessibility to basic human needs and as such demands immediate attention and intervention from the government with the spirit of making the delivery of public services hassle free very much at the public facility centres.

Though a healthy trend has sent in now due to the increasing digital intervention in both the working of public institutions and as well as life style of the people across the country but even this healthy trend does not show any improvement in the resolution of public grievances very much on the spot at the public facility centres like hospitals and educational institutions including schools, colleges and universities.
