Srinagar : Police on Thursday said that it has arrested two drug peddlers in Kulgam and Baramulla districts of Kashmir Valley and also recovered huge quantity of contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued on Thursday Police said that Police Station Qazigund received a specific information about one person namely Bashir Ahmad Khanday son of Mohd Sultan Khanday resident of Nipora Mirbazar having indulged in drug peddling and hoarding a huge quantity of narcotic substance in his residential house.
Police in it’s statement also said that a Police party of PS Qazigund under the supervision of Dy SP PC Mirbazar raided the specific location and during searches recovered 355 Kgs of Poppy straw from the resident house of the above named accused who has been arrested and shifted to PS where he remains in custody.
Stating that in Baramulla, officers from PP Palhallan at a checkpoint established near Kutta Morh Pattan arrested a drug peddler identified as Irfan Rasheed Lone son of Ab Rasheed Lone resident of Malpora Burn Pattan, Police in it’s above referred statement further said that during personal search of the above named accused officers recovered 10 bottles of Codeine Phosphate from his possession. Police in it’s statement furthermore said that cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations and further investigation has been initiated.
In the concluding para of the above referred statement, Police appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood and warned that people found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law, Stating therein further that consistent actions against drug peddlers are taken as part of efforts made to keep society free from the scourge of drug menace.
