Rajouri : BGSB University celebrated Independence Day with grandeur and patriotic fervour. The entire University was basked in a sense of pride and happiness as the Country is celebrating 76th Independence Day. On the occasion, Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University (BGSBU) organized a Mushaira- Kavi Sammelan on the Campus. Prof. Akbar Masood, Vice Chancellor of the University presided over the event. Speaking on the occasion Prof. Akbar paid rich tribute to the freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives during the freedom struggle. Prof. Akbar said that we should bow down to the freedom fighters and unsung martyrs who gave up their lives for the freedom of our country. Their unmatchable sacrifices should be the inspiration for all of us and we must work tirelessly to create the nation of their dreams.
Prof. Akbar also remembered the poets who played a pivotal role in the freedom struggle. The Vice-Chancellor said that poets have played a significant role in our struggle for freedom and their contribution shall always remain in our hearts. Prof. Akbar appreciated the participation of poets and guests attending the program
During the programme, poets mesmerized the audience through their poetry and couplets. In the end, patriotic songs were presented by the students. This is for the first time that a bilingual Mushaira-Kavi Sammelan has been organized at BGSB University to celebrate India’s Independence Day.
The celebrations concluded with the ‘At Home’ reception hosted by, Vice Chancellor, Prof. Akbar Masood. Senior functionaries, faculty members, officers and staff of the University attended the reception.
