Srinagar| Aug, 17: Militants on Wednesday lobbed grenades and escaped security forces’ cordon in South Kashmir’s Shopian district , police said on Wednesday.
Security forces launched a cordon and search operation in the Kutpora area of Shopian Tuesday night following information about the presence of militants there, they said. Kashmir Zone Police on it’s twitter handle said that on specific input Security Forces launched a CASO in Kutpora, Shopian after which militants lobbed grenades on the search party, Stating therein further that search party also retaliated but militants escaped due to darkness. Kashmir Zone Police in it’s tweet also said that security forces busted a hideout inside a house and recovered Arms and ammunition.
Stating that during the operation, militants lobbed grenades at the search party and the fire was retaliated, a police spokesman said that militants escaped due to darkness. He also said that a hideout was busted in a house and arms and ammunition was recovered.
