Illegal extraction, transportation of minerals: 2 accused held, 2 vehicles seized in Budgam, Says Police

Amid dry, hot and humid weather, hundreds of people including men, women and children mostly bare foot visited the revered suffi Saint Shrine Sheikh Noor-Ud-Wali popularly known as Nund Resh at Charar-e- Sharief in Budgam district on Sunday for prayers to seek rainfall to end the drought season in Kashmir valley. Srinagar : Police on Monday said that it has arrested two persons and also seized two vehicles on charges of involvement in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals besides seizing two vehicles involved in the commission of crime.
In a statement issued here on Monday Police said that a police party of PS Budgam at checkpoints established at Narkara & Sebdan Crossing intercepted two tippers loaded with illegally extracted soil, Stating therein further that the vehicles bearing registration numbers JK04A-9363 and JK04A-9230 have been seized and their drivers identified as Amir Suhail Rather son of Ghulam Hussain Rather resident of Badina and Sajad Ahmad Dar son of Ali Mohd Dar resident of Tikipora were arrested.
Stating that the above named accused persons have been shifted to police station where they remain in custody, Police in it’s above referred statement further said that cases under relevant sections of law have been registered in Police Station Budgam and investigation has been initiated.
In the concluding para of the above referred statement police warned that people found indulging in illegal mining activities shall be dealt as per law and appealed people to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with their concerned police units.
