Centrality in admissions at central universities

Holding a Common Entrance Tests for Admission to undergraduate courses called Central Universities Entrance Test (CUET) for undergraduate courses in Central Universities and Colleges is by all standards of understandabilities a huge respite for the students across the country. In fact such a test should have been also proposed for admission to even Masters, M.Phil and Ph.D courses also to reduce the duplicity in the admission processes in Universities across the Country.  The University Grants Commission (UGC) having submitted a proposal to integrate the NEET and JEE into the Common University Entrance Test (CUET), particularly at the UG level is likely to bring more respite to the admission seekers at the undergraduate level. The decision to hold Common University Entrance Test (CUET) twice in an academic session would give students of the entire country an opportunity to participate in the admission process of the central universities twice in a year. So the objective of holding Common University Entrance Test (CUET) twice in an academic session is to further the causes of more and more participation of students in this nationwide Common Entrance Test. The most attractive part of the Common Entrance Test is the focus on equal opportunities to all the students of every state and union territory of the country. So this common entrance test is not designed only give equal opportunities to all students across the country but it is also designed for raising the levels of participation of students in the admissions to undergraduate courses. So by all standards of understandabilities this common entrance test will bring a huge difference in the admission process of central universities in the country.

Though there is nothing new in competition for admissions in the central universities but what is new now in the admission for UG courses to central universities is participation in just one test for admission in too many universities without pursuing complicated admission processes of too many central universities or colleges.

As per the previous admission procedure each university or college had its own admissions process and most of students were missing the opportunity of participating in the admission process of each one of the college or each one of the Central University. Since the main objective of the National Education Policy is to set a uniform standard of benchmarking in the higher education system of the country, the conduct of a Common Entrance test for admissions to Central Universities and Colleges does not go o against the spirit of National Education Policy also. Though there is nothing new in competition for admissions in the central universities but what is new now in the admission for UG courses to central universities is participation in just one test for admission to too many central universities without pursuing a complicated admission processes of too many central universities or colleges.
