Drug peddler arrested at Sopore, contraband substance recovered: Police

Srinagar : Police on Friday said that it has arrested a drug peddler in Sopore and also recovered contraband substance from his possession.
In a statement issued on Friday Police said that a police party of Police Station Sopore during naka checking at Adipora Sopore under the supervision of SDPO Sopore Furqan Qadir intercepted a person identified as Safeer Ahmad Lone son of Habib-ul-lah Lone resident of Adipora Sopore and during searches recovered 15grms of Brown Sugar like substance from his possession following which he was arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
Stating that a case vide FIR No. 171/2022 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Sopore and investigation set into motion, Police in it’s statement further said that Sopore Police has registered 48 NDPS cases during the current year 2022.
In the concluding para of the above referred statement, Police appealed people to come forward with information, if any, regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood and warned that people found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law, Stating therein further that actions against drug peddlers are taken as part of the efforts made to keep society free from the scourge of drug menace.
