Police arrests 5 drug peddlers in Budgam, Contraband substances recovered

Srinagar : Police on Thursday said that it has arrested five drug peddlers in Budgam and also recovered huge quantity of contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued on Thursday Police said that police Station Budgam on receiving a specific information about the activities of drug peddling in Nasrullapora area of Budgam swung into action and arrested five persons besides recovering 112Kgs of Poppy Straw from three vehicles bearing registration No: JK01P-8028, PB10GK-0237 & PB10HT 2263.
Stating that five drug dealers have been identified as Jugwinder Singh S/O Jagtaar Singh, Jagjeewan Singh S/O Sukhsinder Singh, Bailjinder Singh S/O Pritpal Singh all residents of Gujrwal Ludhiana Punjab, Baint Singh S/O Paramjeet Singh R/O Mallah Ludhiana Punjab and Karam Singh S/O Randhir Singh R/O Maina Singhwala Mooga Punjab, Police in it’s statement further said that the vehicles used in the commission of crime have also been seized but it also said that one notorious drug peddler fled from the spot, efforts are on to effect his arrest.
“A case vide FIR No.271/2022 under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Budgam and further investigation has been initiated”, reads further the above quoted police statement.
In the concluding para of it’s statement police appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhoodbut warned that people indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law, Stating therein further that t actions against drug peddlers are taken as part of efforts made to keep society free from the scourge of drug menace.
