Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav: CUK holds collage exhibition, film screening

Amid dry, hot and humid weather, hundreds of people including men, women and children mostly bare foot visited the revered suffi Saint Shrine Sheikh Noor-Ud-Wali popularly known as Nund Resh at Charar-e- Sharief in Budgam district on Sunday for prayers to seek rainfall to end the drought season in Kashmir valley. Ganderbal: Continuing with various activities and events to celebrate 75 years of Independence and commemorate it as Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav, many departments of the Central University of Kashmir (CUK) organized different programmes on Thursday here.
According to a statement issued from Public Relations Office of the University, the Department of Politics and Governance organised screening of an episode of a film series titled ‘Samvidhaan: The Making of the Constitution of India,’ Role play on the theme “achievements of 75 years of India’s independence” and poster competition on “Freedom and Development.” Addressing the participants, Vice Chancellor, Prof. Farooq Ahmad Shah, spoke about the contributions of Dr. B R Ambedkar and his role as the chairman of Constitution Drafting Committee. He appreciated the vision of the members of the Constituent Assembly and said that Sardar Patel, Mahatma Gandhi, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad and many other leaders played a significant role in shaping the Constitution.
On this occasion, Dean Social Sciences and Registrar, Prof M. Afzal Zargar explained the relevance of Constituent Assembly Debates and how it is a must for all to understand the birth of India through the Constituent Assembly Debates.
“History is important. One must know the history to know the present and think about the future,” he said. Meanwhile Dean DSW, Dr. Mehraj ud din Shah, spoke about the importance of the Indian constitution and the need for the students of political science to be aware of the Constituent Assembly Debates. The Department coordinator, Dr Himabindu, conducted the programme proceedings while Asst Prof. Dr. Muzaffar proposed the vote of thanks.
