Samba: Department of Handcraft and Handloom in collaboration with District Administration Samba on Wednesday organized an exhibition cum sale counter of handmade products of local artisans here at DC Office Samba.
Deputy Commissioner Samba, Anuradha Gupta while inaugurating the stall of handicraft and handloom called for collective effort in promoting the local artists through “Vocal for Local” campaign.
The DC said that similar exhibitions have been organised across the district Samba to give impetus to the local handmade products.
“Recently, the country celebrated 8th National Handloom Day during which hand woven products were promoted and on the same pattern an exhibition cum sale counter was organized on the eve of Raksha Bandhan at the DC Office “ informed the DC Samba.
Assistant Director Handicraft and Handloom, Nikharika informed that special handicraft products like Rakhi, Bracelets, Bamboo products, decorative items, handmade bags, pillow covers, etc were displayed out of which many were sold out. The AD further informed about various initiatives & schemes of the department of handicraft and handloom in vogue for uplift of local artisan communities.
Additional Deputy Commissioner, Suram Chand Sharma; ACR Ravinder Kumar; CPO Sukhleen Kour; DIO Ajay Sharma; DMO Mohammad Sayeed, besides other officials of Handicraft and Handloom department were also present.
