Srinagar: Director General J&K Police Dilbag Singh on Wednesday sanctioned rupees one Crore as Special Welfare Relief for NoKs for slain and deceased Police personnel.
According to the statement issued from J&K Police Headquarters, the relief through an order of PHQ Special Welfare Relief of Rs 22 lakh has been sanctioned to dependents/legal heirs of ASI Mushtaq Ahmad who was killed in a militant attack. Similarly, the Special welfare relief of Rs 22 lakh each has been sanctioned todependents/legal heirs of deceased ASI Mushtaq Ahmad Shah, ASI Mohinder Singh, and Constable Tariq Ahmad. The deceased personnel passed away due to illness/ natural death while in service.
Besides this, the DGP has also sanctioned Special Welfare Relief of Rs six lakh each in favour of dependents/legal heirs of deceased SPOs Khadim Hussain and Shams Din who passed away due to illness during the course of their engagement with the department.
Prior to this order from PHQ, Rs one lakh each has already been paid to NoKs of these slain/deceased Police personnel for performing last rites through their concerned units. The Special Welfare Relief is sanctioned out of Contributory Police Welfare Funds.
As reported from time to time PHQ has confirmed that the Police Department is running many schemes for the welfare of its personnel and their families. There are also schemes for the wards of Police personnel and SPOs. Besides, there are schemes for the NoKs of slain cops, their wards and also for the retired Police personnel and their spouses.
