Flori Deptt conducts plantation drives in Govt Schools

Amid dry, hot and humid weather, hundreds of people including men, women and children mostly bare foot visited the revered suffi Saint Shrine Sheikh Noor-Ud-Wali popularly known as Nund Resh at Charar-e- Sharief in Budgam district on Sunday for prayers to seek rainfall to end the drought season in Kashmir valley. Jammu : Department of Floriculture Parks and Gardens Jammu on Monday conducted a series of plantation and cleanliness drives in the Government Educational Institutions.
The Dirves were held in collaboration with School Education Department Jammu in Government Higher Secondary School Ghou Manhasan, Government Middle School Ghou Manhasan, Government High School Muthi, Government Higher Secondary School Satwari, Government High School, Satwari Cantt and Government Middle School Satwari.
Over 1100 plants of different species were planted as a part of celebrations of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.
The plantation and cleanliness drive was conducted under the supervision and guidance of S. Jatinder Singh, Director Floriculture Parks and Gardens Jammu.
The plantation and cleanliness drive was conducted in vicinity of these schools in presence of Sunil Singh, Deputy Director Floriculture Jammu; Vikrant Kumar Sharma, Floriculture Officer Jammu; Ranjana Kumari, Headmaster Government Middle School GhouManhasan; Swarn Lata, Headmaster Government High School Muthi; Atul Sharma, Lakshmi and Rakesh Kumar Sharma Assistant Floriculture Officers, other staff members and passionate students.
Speaking on the occasion, the Floriculture Officer said that such plantation drives in schools not only provide sustainable environment but also recharge the ground water level after few years.
