Srinagar| Aug, 9: Chairman Employees Joint Consultative Committee (EJCC) and President CAPD Employees Association Kashmir Aijaz Ahmad Khan on Tuesday reiterated the demand of Jammu & Kashmir Employees for constitution of 8th Pay Commission for revision of salaries of both the central and state Governments in view of rising prices of essentials across the country. He also urged  both the Central and J&K Governments to revise advertisement rates for both print and electronic media in view of the unprecedented rise in the costs of both printing materials and as well as electronic gadgets used by the TV news channels.

In a statement issued on Tuesday Khan said that knowing that the people are reeling under economic stress triggered by growing inflation and suspension of all major and minor business operations due to three consecutive lockdowns in last three years of pandemic, the growing demand for constitution of 8th pay commission deserves immediate attention and intervention of not only Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman but also of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in person.

Reacting to the remarks of Union Minister of State (MOS) for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary that Central Government is not considering any proposal for setting up 8th Pay Commission for revision of salaries of the Central Government, the EJCC Chairman Aijaz Ahmad Khan said that the statement of the Union MoS Finance on 8th pay commission in parliament has saddened millions of employees not only in Jammu & Kashmir but across the country. Stating that tax inflation, growing prices of essential commodities, unprecedented hike in fuel and LPG prices and above all the huge economic slowdown triggered by three consecutive covid lockdowns in last three years of pandemic across the country necessitate one more revision in salaries of the employees of central, state and UT Governments, the EJCC Chairman appealed Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharam to review it’s decision on immediate constitution of 8th pay commission. He also appealed both Lt Governor Manoj Sinha and as well as the Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur to take immediate call on growing demand for revision in the advertisement rates of both print and electronic media in view of the unprecedented rise in the costs of both printing materials and as well as electronic gadgets used by the TV news channels, Stating therein that the employees in print and electronic are also reeling under increasing economic stress due to rising inflation both within and outside Jammu & Kashmir.
