Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav: GDC Sumbal organizes extension lecture

B’pora : As part of ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ celebrating 75 years of independence”, the Government Degree College (GDC) Sumbal organized an extension Lecture on the theme “Genesis of Flag and its Importance in Creating One Nation One People”.
Prof. Bashir Ahmad Khan, Principal of the college was the Chief Guest on the occasion.
The event started with the opening remarks by staff secretary of the college Dr. MehrajHajni, Head, Department of Political Science, wherein he highlighted the beauty of India as a country with unity in diversity.
He also deliberated upon how India has emerged successfully as the largest democracy of the world.
Dr. Irsahd Rashid, Lecturer (Academic Arrangement), in the Department of Political Science, was the guest speaker on the occasion. He spoke at length about the idea of Nation and Nationalism and the importance of various national symbols in generating and developing a sense of belongingness among the masses with the nation.
The lecture was followed by a question and answer session, wherein both teachers and students asked some relevant questions to the speaker, to which he replied positively up to their satisfaction.
Dr. Riffat Basharat Department of Chemistry presented vote of thanks while, NSS Program officer of the college, Dr. AadilMohi-Ud-Din Sheikh, Assistant Professor Kashmiri carried out the proceedings of the programme.
Other faculty members who graced the occasion by their presence and participation were Dr. Mubashir Jeelani, Dr. Mohammad Rafiq Lone, Prof. Mohammad Iqbal Rather, Dr. Parvez Ahmed Lone, Dr. Feroz Ahmed Dar, Dr. Hilal Ahmad Wani and Dr. Syed ShafiaAlam.
A large number of Academic Arrangement teachers, students and NSS volunteers of the college were also present
