Srinagar : Chairman Jammu and Kashmir People’s Democratic Front (J&K PDF) and former Minister Hakeem Mohammad Yaseen on Friday urged central government to restore the statehood on priority basis, so that trust and alienation factors could be addressed.
In a statement, the senior PDF leader said people of Jammu and Kashmir were betrayed by the central government on 5th August 2019, as it was constitutional guarantee given the people at the time of accession . “It was not first time that JK’s constitution was tinkered but from the 1953 onward, it was being eroded slowly ,” Hakeem said. The senior leader , on behalf of people of Jammu and Kashmir said that government of India should review its decision and restore Article 370 immediately so that trust and alienation among the people could be addressed. If these things would not be addressed immediately, it can have negative impacts on the mindset of people , he added
“Article 370 was not a charity for people of Jammu and Kashmir but Indian constitution had given that special position following the agreement between the eminent leaders,” he said. Hakeem said there is strong leadership at the centre headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah and people have high hopes from them to restore special status to Jammu and Kashmir. “It will also help in strengthening bonds relationship between State and Centre. These things are need of the hour and it is important meet the aspirations of the people,” he maintained.
