Drug peddler arrested at Sopore : Police

Sopore : Police on Friday said that it has arrested a drug peddler in Sopore and also recovered contraband substance from his possession.
In a statement issued here on Friday police said that a police party of Police Station Sopore under the supervision of SDPO Sopore Furqan Qadir at a checkpoint established at Gul Abad Arampora intercepted a suspicious person who on seeing the police party tried to flee from the spot, but was apprehended tactfully by the alert police party, stating therein further that the above named drug peddler has been identified as Sona-Ullah-Shalla son of Muhammad Subhan Shalla resident of Gul Abad Arampora Sopore.
Stating that during checking, 300grams of Brown Sugar like substance was recovered from the possession of the said drug peddler who has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody, Police in it’s statement further said that a case vide FIR No. 166/2022 under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Sopore and investigation has been initiated.
In the concluding para of the above referred statement, police said consistent actions against drug peddlers are taken as part of the efforts made to keep society free from the scourge of drug menace.
