2 –Day National Conference on ‘Biodiversity, Climate change’ concludes at GDC Doda

Doda : The first ever multidisciplinary national conference in Chenab region on the burning theme of ” *Biodiversity, Climate change and Food Security for Livelihood with Multidisciplinary Approach for Sustainable Development”* conducted by Department of Zoology, Government Degree College Doda concluded the other day with participation of scores of scholars, faculty members and academicians from across India.
The conference was held under the chief patronship of Principal Secretary of Higher Education J&K Rohit Kansal and under the supervision of VC Jammu University Prof. Dr Umesh Rai, Director Colleges Higher Education Department, J&K (UT), Dr Yasmeen Ashai, Principal GDC Doda Dr Attar Singh Kotwal, President IASR Dr Sudip Barat and President CIU New Delhi Prof. Dr P. R Trivedi.
Dr Ajaz A Wani, Head Department of Zoology was the Organizing Secretary of the event, while Assistant Prof. Imteyaz Ahmed, Dr Neelam Saba and Dr Muneesh acted as co-organizing secretaries.
International Academy of Science and Research (IASR) and Confederation of Indian Universities (CIU), New Delhi collaborated in organizing this conference.
Sponsorship of the event was shared by Department of Higher Education, Govt. of J&K, Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), HRD, New Delhi, Science, Technology and Innovation Council, Department of Science and Technology, Govt. of J&K (UT) and J&K Bank.
Inauguration of the Conference was held on 3rd of August 2022, in community Hall Doda where Principal Secretary Higher Education Rohit Kansal was chief guest and Principal GDC Doda acted as Guest of honor along with Dr Tanmoy Rudra, Executive Security CIU, New Delhi; Captain Dr Satish Minocha, Chairman IASR, Kolkata, West Bengal; Dr R. K Bharti, Additional Deputy Commissioner Doda; Dr Kuldeep Kumar Sharma, Principal Govt. PG College Bhaderwah; Principal GDC Batote, Dr Rajesh Gupta; Mr Fayaz Ahmed Batt, Zonal Head JK Bank, Zone Doda. Program began with the welcome address by Principal GDC Doda Dr Attar Singh Kotwal. All the dignitaries, professors, scientists, research scholars, prominent citizens and students attending the session were formally welcomed with utmost hospitality.
Organizing Secretary, Dr Ajaz A Wani presented the initial remarks on “About the Conference”.
Newsletter of the Department of Zoology for the year 2021-22 was also released on the occasion. A galaxy of dignitaries also spoke on the occasion and threw light on the significance and benefits of such events.
Principal Secretary Hr. Education Department J&K, Rohit Kansal in his virtual address applauded the Department of Zoology GDC Doda for such a nice initiative and acknowledged that organizing such an event at a far flung place is not a cup of tea.
The Principal GDC Doda, Organizing Secretary and co organizing secretaries were appreciated and applauded for organizing this much needed event for promotion of scientific knowledge and temper among the students.
Dr Muneesh Thakur and Dr Neelam Saba, faculty of Zoology Deptt., coordinated the program. Program ended with the vote of thanks by Dr Tabassum Saleem, Astt. Prof. Deptt. of English GDC Doda.
Inaugural session was followed by technical sessions where 55 research scholars, faculty members and students from across India presented their papers. while more than 10 speakers were invited for 7 technical sessions.
The Valedictory program of the conference was held in the afternoon on 4th of August 2022.
SSP Doda, Abdul Qayoom acted as the chief guest. Principal GDC Doda acted as Guest of honor along with Dr Tanmoy Rudra, Executive Security CIU, New Delhi; Captain Dr Satish Minocha, Chairman IASR, Kolkata, West Bengal; Dr Noor Ali Principal GMC Doda, Ex Principal, Prof. Zaheer Abbas Hashmi and others. Report of the whole conference was presented by the Organizing Secretary. Besides awarding best Poster presentation and best oral presentation awards, IASR awards announced by IASR through brochures of the conference were also given to the professors and delegates. Whole valedictory session was coordinated by Astt. Prof. Imteyaz Ahmed, Dept. of Zoology GDC Doda. The impressive technical sessions and valedictory function of the conference left indelible impressions on the hearts of arrived guests, scientists, professors, research scholars and others and they wished such conferences to be organized in future as well. During the conference college Newsletter, books by Dr.Sumit kotwal, Dr. Sarvajeet singh and Dr.Tabassum Saleem were also released .Program ended with the vote of thanks by Dr Tasir Sharief Head Department of Botany GDC Doda.
