Police organises Thana Diwas at Handwara

Kupwara: Police on Thursday organized ‘Thana Diwas’ at Police Staion Handwara and was chaired by ASP Handwara Shri Irshad Hussain-JKPS accompanied by SDPO Handwara and SHO PS Handwara.
According to a police statement issued here on Thursday, the meeting was attended by Chairman Municipal Committee Handwara, President Traders Federation Handwara, respectable citizens of the area, civil society members of Handwara area, including Numberdars, Chowkidars, Traders, Transporters and PRI’s.
During the meeting, participants highlighted various issues of public importance, and they were assured that their genuine grievances pertaining to Police will be resolved on priority and that of civil administration will be taken up with the concerned Departments for their early redressal. While speaking on the occasions, it was reiterated that the main aim of organising ‘Thana Divas’ is to improve efficiency, transparency and accountability in Policing at grassroot level and to hear and redress grievances of general public, besides seek support and active cooperation in maintaining L&O, curbing drug menace and others social evils in the areas.
In the concluding para of the above referred statement, police said that the participants were also stressed to co-operate with Police in identifying elements who try to disrupt the peaceful environment in the district.
