NABARD celebrates Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav at B’la

B’la: The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD), Baramulla on Tuesday organised a one-day programme to celebrate ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ on the eve of 75th Year of Independence, here.
On the occasion, contribution of NABARD was highlighted vis-à-vis boosting rural economy by providing undivided attention and pointed focus to credit related issues linked with rural development.
Yadvinder Singh Chief Agriculture Officer, Baramulla was the Chief Guest on the occasion.
LDM Baramulla, Bankers (Commercial Banks, Regional Rural Banks, Cooperative Bank) and representatives from NGOs participated in the programme.
Speaking at the event, the DDM Baramulla, Zubair Wasil highlighted various initiatives of NABARD to promote sustainable and equitable agriculture and rural development through participative financial and non-financial interventions, innovations, technology and institutional development for securing prosperity.
He also mentioned about the efforts of NABARD to energise rural credit, empowering women by starting SHG-BLP since 1992, skill development and livelihood programmes for SHGs and rural youth, development of rural infrastructure through RIDF projects, timely and hassle free institutional credit to farmers through KCC at concessional interest, implementation of watershed projects, Farmers Producer Organizations (FPOs), projects on technology transfer and various initiatives/ programmes implemented by NABARD in Jammu & Kashmir and in district Baramulla.
Later, interactions were held with the participants with the objective to transfer the benefits of schemes of NABARD for boosting rural economy.
DDM Baramulla also appreciated the support of all the Departments, Bankers, NGOs, etc. in grounding various schemes and programmes of NABARD and helping in achieving its objectives.
