Srinagar| Aug,2 : National Conference Member of Parliament from Anantnag Lok Sabha Constituency  Justice (Retd) Hasnain Masoodi on Tuesday called on Smt Nirmala Sitharaman, Hon’ble Finance Minister and demanded that Pampore be included as Project Area under World Bank powered multi – million dollar Jhelum & Tawi Recovery Project (JTRP).
According to a statement issued by National Conference on Tuesday Justice (Retd) Masoodi informed the Minister that the Pampore – famous for its saffron, a suburban town of Srinagar located on the banks of Jhelum was worst affected by the devastating floods of 2014; the Town remained submerged for weeks together and all the important infrastructure including Court complex, ITI, Sericulture complex, PDD Receiving Stations, sub -stations were badly damaged. The river banks breached at half dozen places like Drangbal, Kadalbal, Frestalbal and  the flood water inundated the entire Town and surrounding hamlets. The Member reminded the Finance minister the as object of the JTRP is to enhance and increase “ disaster resilience “ the Town that is under constant threat of the flood and immensely suffered during 2014 deserves to be brought within ambit of JTRP. The reconstruction in Town and embankments of Jhelum falls within purview of more than on components of the Project.
