MC Ang holds Orientation prog, presser on banning of SUP

Traders, people appealed to avoid use of plastic

Anantnag : The Municipal Council (MC) Anantnag on Monday held an orientation programme cum presser on ban of single use plastic (SUP) at Town Hall, here.
The programme was chaired by President MC Anantnag, Hilal Ahmad Shah.
CEO, MC Shoaib Noor, DFO Anantnag, M Ramzan Mir, DO, PCB, members of Traders bodies and civil society members were present on the occasion.
While chairing the presser, President MC intimated about the various plastic items which stand banned by the government since July,1, 2022. He appealed the Traders bodies and shopkeepers and general public to dissuade from using the Plastic as the same is harmful for prosperous development of the town.
He also stated that its every one’s responsibility to exhibit standard civic and moral habits in order to eradicate the menace of Plastic use. He also intimated that many awareness programmes have been conducted by MC to disseminate information about the harmful effects of plastic use.
He, on the occasion, stated that MC will take rigorous enforcement of the ban on single use plastic products across the town while calling upon the media to vigorously disseminate IEC Campaigns of the MC among the public.
CEO MC and DFO Anantnag, also addressing the gathering, appealed for complete wiping out of plastic from the district.
President MC also apprised that special checking teams have been formed by the MC and have been instructed to take stringent action including registering FIRs against the repeated offenders.
