Div Com(J) tours flood hit Samba areas, reviews mining issues, progress of developmental projects

Samba : Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Ramesh Kumar on Saturday conducted a whirlwind tour of Samba district to review the flood situation and issues related to mining and availability of minor minerals for the execution of the Mega projects in the area.
Deputy Commissioner Samba Anuradha Gupta, Director Geology & Mining J&K, OP Bhagat, Chief Engineer, Flood Control, Project Director NHAI accompanied the Div Com during the tour.
The Divisional Commissioner inspected the channelization work of the Basanter River near Chichi Mata temple to protect the National Highway stretch and diversion of the water channel of the River near border areas to avert flood risk and protection of border outposts.
The Div Com directed Project Director NHAI to excavate the river bed material for meeting the construction material needs only after obtaining due permission from Geology and Mining Department.
Later, the Div Com also chaired a meeting at DC office Samba to review the availability of flood protection material, ongoing mining activities and status of developmental activities, especially execution of mega projects.
The Div Com Stressed on expediting flood protection works and identification of buildings, roads, infrastructure vulnerable to floods, erosion and laying special focus on raising protection works.
