Sopore: Police on Saturday said that it has arrested four gamblers and seized stake money and playing cards from their possession.
In a statement issued on Saturday police said that a police party of Police Post Fruit Mandi Mazbugh headed by Police Sub Inspector Irfan Nazir after receiving specific inputs about gambling activities in the orchards of village Mazbugh raided the specific site and arrested four gamblers identified as Abdul Majeed Bhat S/O Muhammad Ramzan R/O Butpora, Abdul Rahim Lone S/O Gh Nabi Lone R/O Ladoora Rafiabad, Ghulam Muhammad Illahi S/O Muhammad Subhan R/O Chakla Baramulla and Abdul Qayoom Mir S/OAbdul Ahad Mir resident of Noorbagh Sopore.
Stating that officers have seized stake money of ₹10,050/- and playing cards from the gamblers, Police in it’s above referred statement said that the arrested gamblers have been shifted to Police station where they remain in custody, Stating therein further that a case vide FIR No. 161/2022 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Sopore and investigation set into motion.
In the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement police warned that people found indulging in criminal activities shall be dealt as per law and appealed people to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with the local police units.
