DC B’pora visits Shadipora, Shilvat, Nowgam, Inderkoot areas

DM also interacts with locals, takes stock of Muharram arrangements

B’pora : The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Dr Owais Ahmad on Friday visited Shadipora, Shilvat, Nowgam and Inderkoot areas of Sumbal Sub-Division to take stock of various necessary arrangements put in place for the smooth celebration of the holy month of Muharram-ul-Haram.
The DC was accompanied by SSP Bandipora Mohd Zahid, SDM Sumbal Dr Bashir Ahmad Lone and other senior officers of the district.
The DC visited several Imam-Baras and mosques to review the arrangements besides interacting with the local population. He inspected Imambaras at Shadipora, Shahtulpora, Sarai Dangerpora, Rakhe-e-Shilwat, Shilwat, Wuddar Mohallah and Inderkoot. And took firsthand appraisal of various arrangements put in place and assessed the necessities to be arranged.
Dr Owais also interacted with the locals at all the locations who thanked the administration for making necessary arrangements for smooth celebration of the month and also apprised the officer about various problems being faced by them.
The people demanded uninterrupted water and power supply besides macadamization and necessary repairs of roads and installation of street lamps at various public places to ensure smooth passing of Muharram processions besides appealed to ensure availability of healthcare services.
Dr Owais gave a patient hearing to all the demands and assured that all the demands raised by the people will be looked into. He also passed on-spot decisions to resolve various demands.
He also interacted with the representatives of some Shia associations who appraised him about their needs and demands pertaining to Muharram celebration, they also expressed gratitude to the DC for visiting the area and listening to their grievances.
The DC said that special arrangements have been made and directed the concerned officers to provide uninterrupted water and power supply during the auspicious days.
He directed all the departments to work in tandem so that Muharram Mourners may not face any inconvenience. He also directed the Municipal authorities and Rural Development Department to ensure cleanliness in the area especially on the routes specified for processions.
Meanwhile, DC also inspected the Water Supply Scheme Nowgam Junction undertaken under Jal Jeevan Mission. He inspected the ongoing works and directed the officers to expedite the pace of work to meet the deadline.
