The Ayushman Bharat digital mission launched by the Jammu & Kashmir Government recently in view of the experiences of it’s implementation several parts of the country is an initiative that would ease the accessibility of patient to both healthcare centres and as well as healthcare specialists in short time. Notably the scheme launched by Prime Minister in September last year has raised the standards of responsiveness in the working of healthcare system in several states and union territories of the country. So people in Jammu & Kashmir also hope that the implementation of this scheme could bring respite to them in their accessibility to healthcare facilities. While the patients under this flagship scheme can share their medical information with their trusted doctors just in a single click, the response of the doctors to the patients’ queries would also come under scanner and as such this initiative would be a new measure of accountability in the healthcare system of Jammu & Kashmir like other parts of the country. The scheme does not only ease the access of patients to healthcare facilities but it also eases the work of healthcare professionals who under this scheme will have now quick access to the medical data of the patients. After the announcement of the scheme all eyes are now on it’s implementation as implementation of the scheme would reduce both the inaccessibility of the patients to healthcare facilities and as well as the medical costs for their treatment in short time. The appointment of a full fledged Managing Director to and finalisation of basic requirements show that the Government has fast tracked the process of implementation for the purposes of easing the people’s hassle free accessibility to healthcare facilities on their own choice.

Providing digital health ID to both the people and as well as the health professionals and facility providers like hospitals and laboratories, by all standards of understandabilities, would be a step forward to establish a responsive healthcare system in Jammu & Kashmir. The scheme after the implementation of initial phase would as such not only ease the people’s accessibility to best healthcare facilities but it will also ease the work of other stakeholders like healthcare service providers, doctors and hospitals.

Since the implementation is likely to begin with the initiative of providing digital health ID to people it is expected that Managing Director Ayushman Bharat and his team would complete the process in short time for the purposes of bringing respite to people in short time across Jammu & Kashmir.
