ADDC Jammu reviews Muharram arrangements

Jammu : Additional District Development Commissioner Jammu, RameJ&KKumar, along with ADC, SatiJ&KKumar Sharma Wednesday chaired a meeting of senior officers to review arrangements for the holy month of Muharram-ul-Haram.
Threadbare discussions were held regarding the arrangements being put in place to ensure smooth conduct of religious activities during the holy month.
The representatives of religious organizations put forth their demands and sought un-interrupted power and adequate drinking water supply, repair of street lights, lanes and drains, cleanliness of the areas where procession will be taken out, ambulances and first aid facilities besides security and smooth traffic arrangements.
The ADDC asked the senior officers of PDD and Jal Shakti to take all necessary steps to provide uninterrupted power and drinking water. He asked the Security and Traffic authorities to make proper security and traffic arrangements during the Muharram. The Jammu Municipal Corporation was asked to gear up men and machinery to clear garbage and conduct sanitation operations in the city areas.
The ADDC ensured representatives of religious organizations that the projected issues would be taken up on priority basis and addressed well before the start of holy month. He urged them to advise devotees to follow the Covid-19 protocols during the procession and special prayers.
S P Security, CMO Jammu, President Anjuman-e-Imamia, Jammu, President, Anjuman-e-Haidery, Imam Bargah and other representatives of Shia Muslim community, besides senior officers of PDD, Health, Jal Shakti Municipality PWD, Information and Auqaf Department were also present in the meeting.
