Dreaming Big Enough

A dream is an inspiring picture of our future that energizes our minds and emotions, empowers us to do anything we can, to achieve it. Waking up, dreaming about something we want enthusiastically is not a bad thing. As soon as the word dream comes in the mind, we feel that dreams are those visuals which we see while we are sleeping, but we see the real dreams of life with open eyes. The real dreams of life encourage us to make our tomorrow better. Dreams come recklessly in our minds which mould our thoughts accordingly. Dreams are not a slideshow but examples of our thoughts that we think of all the time. We have found many people who limit their dreams. They dream according to the situation they are standing at the right moment then it is not “ Dreaming big enough”. For example: perhaps you would most really choose the job that is suitable to you rather than the career you literally want but that is beyond your grasp at that moment. It is often said that “ If your dreams don’t scare you, they are not big enough”. So are our dreams big enough? Do they scare us? What it takes to dream big? These are some of the questions which often cross our minds. The answer to these questions lies in the fact that it takes only a second to dream big. Dreams are not just the episodes that play in our heads when we sleep. Dreams are person’s passion which motivates him to do greater and bigger things. One should not only try to dream big but also try his level best to make that dream come true. While achieving, there might be a lot of obstacles. One might have to deal with a lot of setbacks and failures. But we should not forget that “ losers quit when they fail & Winners fail until they succeed ”. Anyone among the readers who has achieved a big goal knows just how the above mentioned statement is true. Successful people dream big even if the goal may seem extremely impossible and difficult to achieve. Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) is the perfect example of it. It is through his hard work and strong determination that he became the most successful leader of the world. There was also a time when no one believed in him. Yet, he did not lose the courage and confidence which he had in himself and continued to work even harder and never gave up. The failure belongs to those people who see the beauty in their dreams. There is no such thing as instant dream fulfillment. Dreaming big is the first step, but if we want to achieve that dream, it requires each and every ounce of our energy. We do not become lucky overnight. In fact the harder we work the luckier we become. So, if you want to dream big go ahead but make sure you need to work hard as much as possible. As the saying goes “ when there is a will, there is a way”. Similarly once an individual sets a big goal, he is bound to gather his resources and work hard to attain success. Even though the world may laugh at people who dream big, it is not an excuse for staying with ones comfort zone. To be successful, one needs to take risks. Only when the stakes are high people work tirelessly to make their dream a reality. Dreaming big doesn’t mean, we suddenly want to be a millionaire or famous. It just means to set our sights higher. Few requirements for dreaming big are;
1, High level of self-confidence: The first step to develop a big dream is to build a bit more self-confidence. Try to remember times when you have succeeded in doing something you set your mind to. See if you can find examples of when things turned out even better than what you expected. Look for the role models in your life or in media that have dared to dream big and achieved more than expectations.
2 Overcoming fear of failure: The fear is real. Whenever we aim for something big, we’ll have to learn to do new things. That’s scary. There is a chance of failure. If we’re doing things that are hard we may fail along the way, at least occasionally. To build this skill, the goal is to do harder things, think of failure as lack of hardwork rather than lack of intelligence. Failure may never really feel good, but with practice, it can stop being so scary.
3: Mindful imagination: Okay, so let’s say you’ve worked through some of the issues that have been preventing you from dreaming big and you’re ready to dream big. Then it’s time to use your imagination. Start by visualizing a variety of different things—maybe being an executive in a big company, leading your own business, traveling all over the world. Just imagine a bunch of things that you may never had thought about before. As you visualize, try to be mindful, paying attention to how your body feels during each scenario. You’re imagining that these scenarios are your life, so your brain actually starts responding to it.
4: Taking action: What is one action you can take to bring your dream to life? Getting started is often the hardest part. So see if you can take one small action today that gets you where you want to go.
5: Taking joy in the process: Once we have big dreams, we may spend so much time focusing on these big dreams that we forget to enjoy the process. But we have to be careful not to get too attached to the goal. Worrying about whether or not we’ll reach these dreams just taints the whole experience. Instead, try to focus on the enjoyable parts of the process. You’re imagining a better future, you’re slowly taking control of your life, you’re creating a new reality, and even small shifts are important and worth celebrating.
