B’pora : The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Dr Owais Ahmad on Monday threw-open the celebrations of Digital Week by inaugurating a Mela and flagging-off a unique Jhanki showcasing digital initiatives at Mini Secretariat, here.
Several departments had installed stalls in the Mela to showcase their initiatives under the Digital India campaign.
The departments provided on spot E-services being offered by the respective departments including Aadhar Enrollment, Golden Cards, various services of Revenue Dept, issuance of land passbooks besides other services that can be availed online by public. The departments provided awareness about these services to the visitors.
The DC visited all the stalls and interacted with the resource persons of respective departments besides meeting the visitors.
He said under the digital India campaign, the administration is moving towards paperless governance by switching over to online mode. He said 209 important services have been transferred to online mode and the administration has moved a long way from “Walk to Office” to “Walk to Web”.
He said people need not to visit government offices now to avail these services but can avail by just clicking on their mobile phones.
Later, a unique Jhanki was also flagged-off from the mini-secretariat that shall move around different public places to highlight digital initiatives of the government.
On the occasion, the DC also distributed Land passbooks among farmers.
Dr Owais said that during the week-long celebrations several activities are being organised to raise awareness about digital services offered by the government. He said there shall be painting, quiz and PRI interaction sessions besides VC interaction wherein government officials will create awareness about digital services.
The DC said that the District Administration has taken the Digi mela as a golden opportunity to provide e -services to its citizens. “Bandipora has an extra advantage among all districts as it received the prestigious National e-Governance Award in January this year,” he added.
He said moving to online mode is a blessing for Bandipora district especially as it has an adverse topography with several areas remaining cut off from the rest of the world and it becomes difficult for people to reach offices. He said the administration has extended internet services to Gurez valley and hence they can also avail online services.
The digital Mela was attended by Additional District Development Commissioner Bandipora, Mohammad Ashraf Hakak; Assistant Commissioner Revenue Bandipora, Parvaiz Rahim; Joint Director Planning Imtiyaz Ahmad officers and officials of various departments, students and general Public.
