Srinagar/July, 24 : Alleging that people of Jammu and Kashmir were facing tremendous difficulties for want of an elected civilian Government, Chairman Jammu & Kashmir People’s Democratic Front (J&K PDF) and former Minister Hakeem Muhammad Yaseen has urged the centre to hold assembly elections without further delay.
Addressing his party’s one day convention  Hakeem  said that in absence of a popular government  , common people are unable to get their problems and grievances redressed adequately . He asseted that centre should restore the  basic constitutional right of Jammu & Kashmir people to elect assembly for resolving their issues in the legislature .  The convention was called to discuss the prevailing socio-political situation in Jammu and Kashmir with reference to the proposed assembly elections .
Maintaining that  Governor’s rule can in no way can be a substitute to an elected civilian government , Hakeem  said that holding of  assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir at the earliest would be  in the overall interests of the country and democracy . He said centre should immediately restore all the constitutional and democratic rights of the people of Jammu and Kashmir to end alienation towards mainstream .  ” This was imperative to bring peace and tranquility in this strife torn part of the country which was also a sensitive border area ,” Hakeem  said adding that winning hearts and minds of the people through reconciliation and people friendly policies was the only way forward in this direction .He said hearts of the people could be won only by meeting their cherished socio political aspirations. He said   center needs to rise above vested political considerations to address  genuine issues of the people .
PDF Chairman has urged the people to isolate  those political parties who have repeatedly betrayed them since 1947 by compromising their dignity and constitutional rights to remain in power . PDF Chairman also castigated the Government for its lackadaisical attitude towards pressing issues of governance of the people of Jammu & Kashmir adding that FAA aspirants were crying for justice since last few weeks  but no body in the government has bothered to listen to their genuine apprehensions . He has urged the government to address the grievances of the aggrieved FAA aspirants .
