Srinagar: The Administrative Council (AC) which met here under the chairmanship of the Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha, on Friday approved naming of schools, roads and buildings after salin cops and eminent persons under the ongoing “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav” celebrations.
Rajeev Rai Bhatnagar, Advisor to the Lieutenant Governor, Dr. Arun Kumar Mehta, Chief Secretary, J&K and Nitishwar Kumar, Principal Secretary to the Lieutenant Governor attended the meeting.
As a mark of respect and acknowledgement of the exceptional contributions towards the security and development of J&K, the identified institutions will be renamed after the slain police personnel and living legends from Jammu and Kashmir.
Pertinently, in Jammu province, the institutions will be renamed after Slain Const. Rajinder Kumar, Slain Const. Raj Kumar, Slain Ct Naseeb Singh, Slain SPO Jalal Din, Slain Ct. Shamim Ahmed, Slain HC. Raghu Nath, Slain Sep. Joginder Singh, Slain Havaldar Sartool Singh, Slain Ct. Raj Kumar, and Slain Ct. Jagdev Singh. Similarly, in Kashmir region, the institutions will be named after Late Sarwanand Kaul Premi, Late Reyaz Ahmad Lone, Slain Rfn. Mohammad Safeer Khan, Slain Para Trooper Shabir Ahmad Malik, Slain Rfn. Abdul Hameed Chara, Slain HC Abdul Rashid Kalas, Slain Sgct. Ghulam Mustafa Barah, and Slain HC Sheraz Ahmad.
