Srinagar : Police on Wednesday said that it had arrested a drug peddler in Awantipora and also recovered contraband substance from his possession.
In statement issued here on Wednesday police said that a Police Party of Police Station Pampore at a checkpoint established at Konibal crossing intercepted a person who was moving in suspicious condition, during which officers recovered 500grms of Charas like substance from his possession.
Stating that the accused has been identified as Mushtaq Ahmad Khanday son of Gh Mohd Khanday resident of Mandakpal was arrested and shifted to Police Station where he shall remain in custody , police in it’s statement further said that a case vide FIR No. 92/2022 under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Pampore and investigation has been initiated.
Police in the concluding para of its statement appealed people to come forward to share any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood and warned that people found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law , stating therein further that consistent actions against drug peddlers are part of the efforts made to keep society free from the scourge of drug menace.
