Srinagar :Jammu & Kashmir Anti Corruption Bureau (J&K ACB) on Wednesday said that it has trapped and arrested Assistant Engineer of Rural Development Department, Sub-Division Awantipora, Pulwama, for demanding and accepting bribe of Rs 2000 for releasing payment.
In a statement issued here on Wednesday the J&K Anti Corruption Bureau said that it receieved a complaint where in the complainant alleged that Mushtaq Ahmad Najar, Assistant Engineer Rural Development Department (REW), Sub-Division Awantipora, Pulwama, is demanding bribe of Rs 2,000 for releasing CDR amount of Rs 7,000.
Stating the complainant is a contractor and works in development related works of Block Awantipora, Pulwama and had deposited CDR work named “Improvement of walling/ Gate around Panchayat Ghar at Dangerpora Padgampora, Pulwama, the J&K ACB in it’s statement further said that since complaint had mentioned about the demand of bribe by alleged accused public servant namely Mushtaq Ahmad Najar S/o Habibullah R/o Mirdanter, Anantnag, posted as Assistant Engineer, Rural Development Department (REW), Sub-Division Awantipora, Pulwama, a case under FIR number 13/2022 was registered at PS ACB Anantnag and investigations started.
“During the course of investigation a trap team constituted”, the J&K ACB statement further reads, adding that “the team caught the accused official red handed while demanding and accepting bribe of Rs 2,000 from complainant. He was arrested on the spot by the ACB team”. The J&K ACB in the concluding para of its above quoted statement said that the bribe money was also recovered from the possession of the accused in presence of independent witnesses.
