DDC Kupwara reviews power scenario, implementation of CSS

DM asks officers to show added sincerity to mitigate sufferings of people

Kupwara :The District Development Commissioner (DDC) Kupwara, Khalid Jahangir on Monday asked engineers of Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL) to show added sincerity towards their job to achieve cent percent targets in all schemes so that sufferings of the people could be mitigated, said a spokesman in a statement issued here.
As per it, the DDC was addressing a meeting of engineers of KPDCL (PDD) including SE North Circle Sopore/Kupwara, Executive Engineers and AEEs, besides, Tehsildar Kupwara/Awoora and District Information Officer.
The meeting was envisaged to review the power scenario and implementation of various power sector schemes in the district.
The DDC reviewed scheme-wise progress of Centrally Sponsored Schemes (CSS), Project Wing, Grid Stations, Receiving Stations and other activities at length and received feedback from the concerned officers.
He asked engineers to gear up their sphere of work and ensure completion of ongoing projects. He gave them different timelines for different projects and enjoined upon them to chase the targets.
Earlier, the DDC was informed that under augmentation of Grid Sub Stations (GSS) programme in the district, augmentation of GSS Vilgam from 50 MVA to 100 MVA is being executed at a cost of Rs.576 lakh and augmentation of GSS Arampora from 90 MVA to 120 MVA at a cost of Rs.425 lakh is being executed respectively.
The meeting was further informed that Receiving Station 1×6.3 MVA at Keran and Machill have been completed and charged at a cost of Rs.540 lakh and Rs.637 lakh respectively while, 1×6.3 MVA Receiving Station is almost complete at Teetwal at a cost of Rs.269 lakh.
The DDC said that the Government is committed to connect all un-electrified habitations and directed the Executive Engineer Kupwara to ensure cent percent coverage of all villages in border areas of Machill and Keran.
The DDC was informed that under CSS, IDPS and DDUGJY, 100 percent achievement has been registered. While, under MPDP Urban, 85 percent work has been done. Likewise, under RAPDRP-B, 100 percent work has been done in Kupwara and Handwara. While, under PMDP-Rural, 66 percent work has been achieved so far. The DDC asked concerned engineers to ensure 100 percent coverage of all schemes without any failure.
