DC B’la takes stock of Muharram-ul-Haraam arrangements

Baramulla : The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Baramulla, Dr Syed Sehrish Asgar on Monday chaired a meeting at Dak Bungalow here to review the arrangements being put in place for the smooth celebration of upcoming Muharram ul Haraam in the district.
As per an official, on this occasion a comprehensive discussion on the subject was held wherein it was given out that special arrangements shall be made for its celebration.
The delegations from different areas highlighted various issues and grievances that need to be resolved for the smooth celebration of Muharram. They demanded uninterrupted drinking water and power supply, adequate ration especially during the auspicious days.
Similarly, several other representatives belonging to different areas also apprised the chair of different issues and grievances pertaining to drinking water, power, ration, installation of lights at some vital locations.
After listening to the issues of the representatives and delegations, the DC stressed upon the concerned officers to make adequate arrangements with regard to uninterrupted power and water supply more especially in Shia-dominated areas.
It was impressed upon the officers to work in coordination and make a viable mechanism so that the devotees may not face any inconvenience.
She also directed the Municipal authorities to ensure sanitation of all the vital locations viz Imam Baras, shrines, and masjids. The DC directed the health authorities to make adequate arrangements in this regard.
The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, Zahoor Ahmad Raina, Joint Director Planning, SDMs, district and sectoral officers, heads of various line departments, representatives of various Shia associations besides other functionaries.
