Reasi : A day-long awareness cum Mobile Eye-checkup camp for drivers was on Saturday organized by Motor Vehicle Department Reasi here in collaboration with Rotary Club Eye Hospital Udhampur.
As per a press statement, as many as 154 drivers were checked, of which 6 were found with some issues related to low vision and night- blindness. They were given on-spot treatment and advised to come for the follow-up.
Assistant Regional Transport Officer, Rajesh Gupta interacted with the drivers and assured them that Transport Department would organise more such camps in near future.
He stressed on all the participants especially the drivers to follow the Safety Norms while driving on roads. He said the role of a driver is very crucial for the safety of precious lives as well as lives of commuters specifically during the transition period.
ARTO made the drivers aware about the facility of regular Eye checkup and other health related testing facilities being made available by the department on regular intervals.
After the end of the camp, the ARTO Reasi conducted checking of vehicles and compounded 32 vehicles and recovered a fine of Rs 52500 from the transport operators for overcharging and other violations.
