Jal Jeevan Mission: DDC Samba Reviews Progress of Work on Water Supply Schemes

DM also emphasizes on speedy completion of approved projects

Samba : District Development Commissioner Samba, Anuradha Gupta on Saturday called for speedy completion of Water Supply Schemes to provide tap water connection to all Households as envisaged under the Jal Jeevan Mission. He was chairing a meeting of Government Functionaries and the contractors to review the status and progress of work on the Water Supply Schemes sanctioned under Jal Jeevan Mission.
Additional District Development Commissioner, Rajinder Singh; Chief Planning Officer, Sukhleen Kour; District Information Officer Ajay Sharma, officers from Jal Shakti Department Samba among others attended the meeting .
As per a statement, the DDC conducted thorough review of the progress of Water Supply schemes and achievements made to achieve the target of Har Ghar Nal Se Jal .
It was informed that a total 112 schemes have been proposed for the district under Jal Jeevan Mission of which 101 have been approved, while work on 67 schemes was on. ‘As many as 39817 households have been connected with water supply while the remaining 18312 would be connected by year end’ the meeting was informed.
The meeting also discussed the issues related to land allotment for WWSs, public hindrances, non-payment of completed works, non availability of workforce, machinery issues etc.
The DDC laid emphasis upon expediting the works while ensuring uninterrupted water supply to the public. DDC directed officers to release the pending payment of contractors in case of satisfactory completion of works. He also warned contractors against the dilly-dally approach in execution of the development works.
The DDC directed revenue officials to remove any bottlenecks in implementation of water supply schemes.
