Dir Horticulture (K) tours various areas of Budgam, Assures orchardists assistance as admissible under departmental schemes

Srinagar : In continuous efforts to reach out to the farming community, the Director Horticulture Kashmir, G.R. Mir on Saturday toured various areas of district Budgam, as per an official spokesman.
At the outset, the Director visited a private walnut nursery at Chattergam and Sabzar HD Apple Nursery, Bugam. He appreciated the work being done by the nursery growers and stressed on the need of producing quality fruit plants.
Speaking on the occasion, the Director appraised that the department has initiated the process of ‘online nursery registration’ and advised the nursery growers to get their nurseries registered with the department, besides being accredited by the National Horticulture Board.
He also visited the Apple High-Density orchard at Chattergam and appreciated the hard work of the orchardists. He assured them of providing further assistance as admissible under different departmental schemes. He gave on spot instruction to the field functionaries to provide technical knowhow to the orchardists regarding different orchard management practices.
Director also visited the Fruit Plant Nursery Gopalpora, Budgam, where he took stock of various developmental activities being carried out.
Later, the Director participated in an awareness camp/interaction session at the nursery.
The interaction was attended by a large number of orchardists, members of State Advisory Board for Development of Kisans and members of Panchayati Raj Institutions.
Addressing the gathering, Director stressed on the field functionaries to aware the farming community about the different departmental schemes in vogue and also elaborated in detail about the incentives available under various UT and Centrally sponsored schemes of the Department viz. MIDH, PMDP, SMAM, PMKSY, CAPEX etc., and urged the farmers to avail the benefits under these schemes.
The Director toured Charar-i-sharief, and visited M/s Himalayan Organic Fertilizers, Zaloosa. He appreciated the work of the entrepreneur in the field of organic farming.
The Director was accompanied by Chief Horticulture Officer, Budgam, District Horticulture Officer, Budgam and other officers of the department.
