Kupwara : The District Development Commissioner (DDC) Kupwara, Khalid Jahangir on Saturday chaired a meeting regarding installation and commissioning of solar street lights approved under District CAPEX Budget 2021-22 under ADF Grants, to the tune of Rs. 7.85 crore.
The meeting was informed that out of 5900 solar street lights, 4500 lights have been installed and commissioned by the Science & Technology Department (JAKEDA) and remaining street lights have been made available and dumped at various locations in the district.
On the occasion, the DDC directed the officers of the Science and Technology department to ensure installation and commissioning of all the remaining street lights within a week’s time. He also directed them to submit a location-wise detailed list of installed solar lights along with Geo-tagged photographs within 10 days.
It was given out in the meeting that a certificate shall also be furnished by JAKEDA regarding installation of the lights at identified locations.
The DDC directed the concerned department to station at least 2 technicians in the district to address the complaints if any with regard to functioning of these lights and ensure maintenance of the lights.
Further, the DDC asked ADDC to conduct physical verification of these street lights on a random basis and furnish a report so that appropriate action could be taken.
