Public Outreach Prog: DC Srinagar holds Public Grievance Redressal camp at Zakura

Srinagar :In order to listen to the grievances of public and take appraisal of local issues at their door steps, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Mohammad Aijaz Asad Wednesday undertook an extensive tour of Zakura area in North Tehsil of Srinagar district and presided over a Public Grievance Redressal Camp as part of Public Outreach Programme under weekly Block Diwas.
The programme witnessed large participation of people from GulabBagh, Syedpora, Zakura, Shanpora, Habbak, Pathan Colony and other adjoining areas of the Tehsil North of Srinagar District.
Besides, local representatives of Urban Local Bodies, the Public Grievance Redressal Camp was attended by Programme Officer, ICDS, Chief Planning Officer, Chief Medical officer, Executive Engineer, PHE, Tehsildar North, District Social Welfare Officer, Zonal Medical officer, Zadibal, District Mineral Officer, Lead Bank Manager and other Zonal and Sectoral Officers of the District.
During the Grievance Redressal Camp, Public delegations and scores of individuals projected various developmental issues before the Deputy Commissioner including augmentation of water supply, irrigation canals, construction of Community Facilitation Centre, infrastructure upgradation of Health centre, Zakura, road widening from Hazratbal to Zakura via NAseemBagh/Malbagh, upgradation of Middle School Zakura, functioning of MMC, Zakura, augmentation of drainage system in the area, repairs of lanes, drains & street lights, macadamization of roads and other developmental and jurisdictional issues in the area.
After giving patient hearing to the grievances and demands of the public, the DC sought on the spot response from the concerned District Officers present during the Grievance Redressal Camp.
Addressing the gathering, the DC said the purpose of holding such grievance redressal Camps is to take appraisal of local issues from the general public for precise and on-ground assessment for time bound redressal.
Responding to the public demands, the DC said that work on an additional block of PHC Zakura will be taken up soon as funds to the tune of Rs 84 lakhs have been sanctioned for strengthening the Health centre to provide better health facilities to the local population.
With regard to the demand for construction of a Community Facilitation Centre, the DC asked the concerned Tehsildar to identify a suitable land for the purpose so that people of the area are provided a facility for organizing social and public events.
On the occasion, the DC urged the local youth to come forward and avail the benefits of different welfare schemes of the Government launched for handholding of the youth so that they earn livelihood with dignity and honour.
The DC also urged the local people to get enrolled under PMJAY Ayushman Bharat and get Golden Card to avail benefit uptoRs 5 lakh for medical treatment.
Regarding the augmentation of water supply in the area, the DC directed the concerned Officers to make a comprehensive proposal for improving the drinking water supply as long term measures and make short term measures for immediate relief of the people by providing adequate water tanker services in the area.
The DC assured the people of Zakura and other adjoining areas that all other genuine demands and issues projected by them will be looked into on priority for their speedy redressal.
During the programme, people of the area thanked the DC for conducting a public outreach programme at Zakura and bringing Administration at the doorsteps of the people for early redressal of their grievances and issues.
Later, the DC visited recently commissioned Power Receiving Station GulabBagh and inspected its functioning.
On the occasion, the DC was informed that 10 MV receiving stations has been constructed at a cost of Rs 3.1 crore and after its commissioning power supply has improved in the local areas.
The DC also inspected the proposed site for construction of a new Tehsil Office for North Tehsil of the District.
Meanwhile, the DC also inspected the building of Mini Maternity Centre(MMC) Zakura and took stock of the infrastructure developed so far and asked Xen Housing Board to expedite further work.
